the global culture tour

The Global Culture Tour is a collective creative experiment to document special neighbourhoods around the world. Places that have found a way to balance the many attributes that I often write about in the blog. Our tag line is “Sustainable, Memorable, Livable travel experiences for global citizens”, so that should start giving you an idea of what destinations may qualify. It’s objective is to create an online guide that helps discerning travellers find ways to immerse themselves into these areas. Hyper-local by nature, these guides feature a destination using a strong editorial approach with a solid and coherent narrative, while showcasing beautiful, original photography that could be the envy of any other travel guide.

In this page you can find details of the production of these guides as we go around the world. If you would like to participate in any of these regions or would like to lead the effort in your own city, leave a comment. We’re looking for great travel writers (80% writer/20% traveller), local photographers, and bloggers to help us spread the word about these destinations.

Date Activity
Aug 4 Done: Meetup for photographers interested in participating in our photo-shoot of Coyoacán. After a great chat with lonerock1970 I’m certain he will do this.
Aug 18 Done: Meetup with photographer and writer to chat about the project. Couldn’t have asked for a better team to get things started here.
Aug 25-27 Done: final details of pre-production. Agreements with the crew, Release forms, call locations to clear up access, confirm actress for photo-shoot.
Aug 28 First photo-shoot: we’ll be walking around Plaza Sta. Catarina in Coyoacan.
Sep Tentative: we are almost certain that we’ll build the guide as collection of weekly posts… more compatible with the online world. Photos will go up on Flickr Group “I could live here” under Creative Commons licensing and they will be assembled into the final site on a weekly basis, following a blog-like structure with one post per day, one theme per week.
